America First Credit Union Mobile App

Free iOS and Android app with biometric sign-in, mobile check deposit, Zelle, and card controls.

The America First Credit Union mobile app is a free iOS and Android application that gives AFCU's 1.5 million members anywhere account access, mobile check deposit, biometric sign-in, Zelle payments, and instant card freeze. The app uses the same User ID and password as online banking at secure.americafirst.com and is published in both stores under America First Credit Union.

What the AFCU mobile app does

America First Credit Union (AFCU) publishes a single mobile application for both Apple iOS and Google Android. The app is free to download, free to use, and is the primary digital channel for the credit union's 1.5 million members. After download, members enroll using member number, Social Security number, and date of birth — the same enrollment process as the web at secure.americafirst.com. Once enrolled, the app supports balance look-ups, transfers, bill pay, Zelle, mobile deposit, and card management.

The dashboard is the home screen of the app and displays balances for up to 15 accounts in member-defined order. Tapping any account opens a 90-day transaction history with search and filter by payee, category, amount, date, tag, or type. AFCU members can also aggregate accounts from other financial institutions into Money Manager for a unified view of household finances. Aggregated accounts show with a tilde (~) in the account number to indicate they are read-only.

How to download and enroll

  1. Search the app store.Open the Apple App Store on iPhone/iPad or the Google Play Store on Android and search for America First Credit Union. Confirm the developer is listed as America First Credit Union before installing.
  2. Tap Enroll in Online/Mobile Banking.First-time users tap the enrollment link on the sign-in screen. The flow asks for member number, Social Security number, and date of birth on file.
  3. Create credentials or sign in.If you already use online banking, sign in with the existing User ID and password. New members create credentials that work across mobile, web, Quicken, and QuickBooks.
  4. Enable biometric sign-in.In Settings, enable Face ID or Touch ID on iPhone, or fingerprint on Android. Biometric replaces typed password for faster sign-in after the first authenticated session.
  5. Approve device permissions.Grant camera access for mobile check deposit, contacts access for Zelle, and location access for branch finder and Card Guard if you want those features.

Mobile check deposit

Mobile check deposit is one of the most-used features in the AFCU app. Endorse the back of the check with For Mobile Deposit Only at AFCU plus your signature, tap Deposit in the app, and capture images of the front and back. The camera auto-detects edges and prompts for retakes if focus is poor. Enter the deposit amount and confirm. Funds typically post the next business day, subject to standard funds-availability holds; larger deposits or new accounts may have longer holds.

Card controls and Card Guard

The app embeds Card Guard, AFCU's debit and credit card control suite. Members can freeze a card instantly if it is lost or misplaced, unfreeze it later if it turns up, set spending limits per merchant category, allow or block international transactions, and turn off card-not-present (online) charges separately from in-person swipes. Real-time push notifications alert members when a card is charged, declined, or used in a category outside normal patterns. These controls work for AFCU-issued Visa debit and credit cards.

Zelle peer-to-peer payments

Zelle is built into the AFCU app for sending and receiving money between US bank accounts. Members enter a recipient's email address or US mobile phone number; the recipient receives the funds in their own bank's Zelle-enabled account within minutes. AFCU does not charge members for Zelle. Common uses include splitting rent or restaurant bills, paying contractors, and reimbursing family. Zelle payments are real-time and final once accepted, so recipients should be people the sender knows and trusts.

Account alerts and notifications

Push notifications from the AFCU app deliver real-time alerts for card activity, deposits, balance thresholds, and security events. Members can customize alert rules per account: low-balance triggers, large-transaction thresholds, deposit confirmations, and failed-login warnings. Alerts can also be delivered as SMS text messages or email if push notifications are disabled. The dashboard's Reorder Accounts setting allows up to 15 accounts to be arranged in member-preferred order.

People also ask about the AFCU mobile app

Is the AFCU mobile app free?

Yes. The America First Credit Union mobile app is a free download in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. AFCU does not charge members for app use, mobile check deposit, Zelle transfers, bill pay, or balance alerts.

Do I use the same login as online banking?

Yes. Mobile and online banking share one User ID and password. Members who already sign in at secure.americafirst.com can use the same credentials on the app, then optionally enable Face ID, Touch ID, or Android fingerprint for faster sign-in.

What device permissions does the app need?

Camera permission enables mobile check deposit. Contacts permission supports Zelle recipient selection. Location permission allows Card Guard and the branch/ATM finder. Each permission can be granted or denied independently in the device settings.

Why does an aggregated account show a tilde (~)?

Accounts added through Money Manager from another financial institution display a tilde in the account number to indicate they are read-only. AFCU members can view balances and transactions for aggregated accounts but cannot move money to or from them through the app.

What is the AFCU routing number for app transfers?

The routing number is 324377516. This single ABA number works for all AFCU accounts across all 116 branches and is used for external transfers, ACH, direct deposit, and wires set up in the mobile app or online banking.
